Interacting with Physicians

Communications with the doctor and (if desired,) the patient by letter, telephone, and/or onsite visits are all methods that can be used to convey important information that other aspects of the program have uncovered. We are cognizant that the physician, especially the Primary Care Physician (PCP), ultimately makes the therapeutic decisions, and so our goal is to augment his or her work. We can provide the physician with data and in addition we can communicate findings to the patient. Encouraging the patient to use his PCP instead of going to the Emergency Department is something face-to-face visits can enhance significantly.

HID patient data base.

HID has implemented a recipient focused education program designed to provide recipients with information about safe and effective use of prescription medications. HID has developed special patient education materials for this purpose covering several classes of medications for current Medicaid clients. These materials cover Anti-Ulcer, Asthma, Pain Management, Anti-Depressants, Diabetes and Anti-Psychotics. Recipient focused profiling identifies recipients who can benefit from receipt of these educational materials.
