Studying Outcomes

Over time, cost analyses are also performed. The ideal study period for cost savings studies is six months after the intervention; therefore, a time lag is required between the intervention and the cost savings study for the study to be valid. The methodology used for the analysis is that promulgated by HFCA in their 1994 report, “Guidelines for Estimating the Impact of Medicaid DUR.”

DURBase® Version 3 is used to study long term trends and RxExplorer™, HID’s proprietary Data Analysis and Decision Support tool, is used as the data mining tool to study specific ad hoc concerns. Standard monthly and quarterly reports are generated on a periodic schedule and a virtually infinite number of queries and reports are available whenever the client wishes. These reports cover every aspect of RDUR activities and provide the material required to complete the annual CMS reports.
