As President and CEO of HID from 1997 until his retirement in December 2007, Ty Gibson managed HID’s transition from a clinical division of a large pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) to an independent company with its own comprehensive suite of healthcare analytics solutions. Dr. Gibson also served as CEO of HDI Solutions, the parent company of HID, from 1977 until his retirement. During this time, HDI Solutions expanded from a two-person company to an innovative data management company with a staff of over 100 people.
As Professor of Pharmacy Care Systems and Head of the Division of Pharmacy Administration at Auburn University from 1972 to 1995, Dr. Gibson was an active researcher, writer and speaker in the field of drug utilization review and the use of information technology in healthcare. He authored Medication Law and Behavior (New York: John Wiley & Sons, 1976) and numerous articles and presentations. Dr. Gibson held Bachelor and Masters of Science degrees in Pharmacy from the University of Georgia and a Ph.D. in healthcare administration from the University of Mississippi.
